Sharing investigations
An investigation is private to your account until you deliberately share it. Sharing hands someone else a frozen copy, not live access: they get their own version to keep, and you keep working on yours undisturbed.
Steps
- In the toolbar, select Share. Wallet Sleuth immediately creates a snapshot of the investigation exactly as it stands and copies its link to your clipboard. There's nothing to configure first, so nothing opens on screen; if your browser blocks the clipboard write, the link shows in a notification instead.
- Send that link to whoever you want to see it.
- They open it and see a summary of the investigation right away, no account needed: its name, who shared it, its wallet and transfer counts, an approximate total value, and how long the link has left before it expires.
- Importing it into their own Scout needs an account, so selecting Import to my account asks them to sign in at that point if they aren't already (the button reads Sign in to import until then). Either way, it copies the investigation into their own account as a brand new one.
Common questions
Does the shared copy update as I keep working? No. It's frozen at the moment you selected Share; select it again to send a fresh snapshot.
Can the person I shared with see my future edits, or can I see theirs? No. Importing makes a fully independent copy in their account; neither of you sees the other's changes afterward.
How is this different from inviting someone to a tracking page? A tracking page invite (see Members and invites) gives someone live, ongoing access to the same page. A Scout share is a one-time copy of an investigation as it existed when you shared it.
How long does a share link last? It expires automatically after a while; the import page shows exactly how long is left once it's open.
